About Christine Singer-Luna

Hi, my name is Christine Singer-Luna and I am running for Mayor of Whittier. As a lifelong Whittier resident and Cultural Arts commissioner appointed by the City Council, I believe that good government should solve local problems, elected leaders must communicate with residents, and we need foresight; from our budget crisis to our environment, we are borrowing this city from the next generation.

Through my podcast What’s Up, Whittier? we have invited guests from local businesses, non-profits, and throughout the community to talk about why we all love Whittier and what keeps us here. And I see some of you here tonight.

This presented opportunities for me to support our local non-profits by helping in various fundraisers including Celebrity Waiter for CAPC, Inc. , Dancing with the Whittier Stars  for the Whittier Community Foundation, and countless other activities for The Boys and Girls Club. I do this for my community because I love to serve.

My time working for the Whittier Uptown Association and being a committee member for the Uptown Whittier Improvement Association has given me the experience and knowledge of what needs to happen today and what is already happening for Uptown Whittier. I know our Uptown can be as vibrant, clean, and safe as other cities, which is why in May I collected signatures from almost 50 different Uptown merchants to ask the city council to approve the Uptown Streetscape Improvement plan.

People ask me why not city council first? Why Mayor?

This is why: we are transitioning into a new decade and

we need courageous leaders for challenging times.

As your next Mayor of Whittier I am committed to serve you and make local government work for residents and businesses.
